All things Velocity Based Training w/ Jacob Tober
In this episode we go deep with The Coaches Table on all things velocity-based training, starting a business, building an app, and the developer side of it.
This is one of the longer-form conversations I’ve done, and it splits roughly in two. The first half is the coaching material: what velocity-based training actually measures, why bar speed is a more honest indicator of effort than a percentage on a spreadsheet, and how coaches can layer velocity data into the programming they already run rather than rebuilding everything around it.
The second half is the part most VBT interviews skip — the business and product side. Going from S&C coach to app founder, what it takes to ship a computer-vision product with a small team, and the trade-offs you make when the person who understands the training method and the person specifying the software are the same person.
If you’re after the foundations first, the velocity-based training guide covers the method end to end. For the product story in written form, there’s how we built a computer-vision VBT app.
